EN - Michiko Nojiri Sensei came to Europe in the 1960s to spread the Japanese Chado or ‘Way of tea.’ For six decades, Michiko spread the Japanese 'Way of tea' in Europe. She attended intensive seminars and taught about her unique way of studying Chado. For her, the 'way of tea' is a way of living.

Soho Sensei: Staf Daems

EN - Michiko Nojiri Sensei came to Europe in the 1960s to spread the Japanese Chado or 'Way of tea.' Staf Daems was one of her first students. For both of them, the 'way of tea' is a way of living. Staf has three passions: painting, gardening and Chado. He single-handedly built two tea houses in his garden and receives friends and students there.

Chado, of de ’theewijze’, is voor hen een weg door het leven. Staf heeft drie passies: schilderen, tuinieren en Chado. Hij bouwde eigenhandig twee theehuizen in zijn tuin en ontvangt er vrienden en leerlingen.

De film onderzoekt de gevolgen van die periode in de huidige maatschappij, met als invalshoek “het visuele.” Hoe verwerkt men de gebeurtenissen? Wat zijn de sporen ervan in symbolen, kunst en films. Hoe beleven mensen nú wat toen gebeurde en wat denken ze van hun toenmalige houding. Hoe gaat men om met de 30 000 vermisten (mensen die verdwenen door het bewuste toedoen van de militaire dictatuur)?

Mostrame (Show Me) is a documentary about the last Argentinean dictatorship (1976-1983). The movie investigates the lasting impact of that period on the contemporary Argentinean society. Mostrame ‘s unique perspective sprouts from its attentiveness to “the visual”.

Mostrame asks how contemporary Argentineans cope with the remembrance of the repressive regime. How do people remember the 30 000 desaparecidos, the people that were abducted by security forces and never heard of again? Mostrame traces the bearing of this traumatic epoch on symbols art and movies. It asks how people today recollect what happened then and how they look back on their position and attitude at the time.

Mostrame (Montre-moi) est un documentaire sur la dernière dictature en Argentine (1976-1983). Le film investigue les conséquences de cette période dan la société actuelle, avec comme point de vue « le visuel ».

Comment peut-on gérer les événements ? Quelles sont les traces de cette période dans les symboles, dans l’art et dans le cinéma ? Les gens, comment vit-on maintenant ce qui s’est passé et comment juge-t-on son attitude à l’époque? Que sent-on pour les trente milles disparus : des personnes que la dictature militaire a consciemment fait disparaître?
